Falling Water
PDF tutorial on making a waterfall in 3DS MAX
Fire Stream
3ds max 5 Tutorial Self-propelling Fire Stream
FOUNTAIN
The Super Spray particle system can be used to make a quick water fountain
It's a Laser Beam
We're going to make a laser beam in this lesson and I'm going to use
a satellite dish as the object which the laser beam will be birthed from.
Begin by creating a Plane object and set the Scale Multiplier to 100.
Lightning
Lightning effects, and animation
Lightning flash
We draw a skeleton of the future lightning. For this purpose simply
arrange in a frontal window of a projection of a line how it seems lightning
to you looks...
Making Fire (For Beginners)
Here I've created somewhat of a type of planet or star. Do the same.
Muzzle Flashes in 3ds Max
As you know, some people may think if you use photoshop + 3d studio
max to make stuff that looks cool, but not cool enough to be rivialed
to shadowness.com may think you're a newbie. Anyways, making your model
in 3d studio max and then making your muzzle flashes in adobe may:
1. take a long time
2. adobe + max = not liked by some of the hardcore art community and
3. this tutorial will show you how to create muzzle flashes in 3d studio
max
Plug-In Tutorial
Plug-In Basics: The Splash plugin consist of two main types of objects:
Pool - the water area where the action takes place. It is situated in
Create/Fluid Mechanics panel. After creating it you can change the mesh
Density (the greater density the smother ripples will be) and other parameters
which will be described later.
Stones - the objects that fall or move in the water. They are in the
Helpers/Fluid Mechanics panel. There are two types of Stones: Impact Stones
(I-Stone) and Wake Stones (W-Stone). I-Stones lets you to make splashes
and ripples on the water when something falls into the water. W-Stone
is a helper that can be linked to an object that moves on the water surface
(water crafts, ships, boats, animals like ducks or swans and others) and
make wakes that are left after the floating object.
Rocket Trails
For this tutorial i used : APE (All Purpose Emitter from Sisyphus Soft.)
so if you don't have it,you can't do this tutorial. But you can do nearly
the same with standard particles system from Max
Shockwave
This tutorial shows how to make decent looking shockwave (I know that
this isn't nothing if we compare this to some movie effects). I used three
plugins: animated glow, superglow and particle+ (you can do it without
any of those plugins, but it WILL look very bad). I assume that you know
basics of 3D Studio MAX.
Shockwave Tutorial
This time around I will show you how to do a pretty good looking shockwave
effect not using plugins. So start max up and create a tube object with
radius 1 -70 and radius 2 about 50. Set the height about .6 or .7 high
as we want this to have some depth. Also give it about 70 sides.
Smokin 1 - Basic 3dsmax Particles
This tutorial is designed to cover the basics of particles, essentially
creating smoke using spray. Later on I will write a more in depth tutorial
on covering this subject since there is so much to cover, such as using
super spray and paaray, and how to create fire and giant hell like explosions.
Smokin 2 - Intermediate 3dsmax Particles
In this tutorial I have more time and I am going to cover the more advanced
areas of particles and materials and how to try to give a better illusion
of smoke. Basically there is several different types of smoke ranging
from steam and black candle smoke to large billowing smoke emitted from
bushfires ect.
Space Explode
Cool explosion effect.
Steam
Simple way of steam creation.
Volumetrics: Combustion
Combustion is a volumetric plugin for 3dsmax, Essentially what it does
is create firey explosions although it can be used for many gas like real
world elements such as smoke, steam, clouds and so forth. As well as tendril
fire.
Water, Fire and Smoke Effects Using Particles and Opacity Maps
This is by no means a new technique, in fact, I saw it being demoed
at the Kinetix booth at Siggraph, but people have asked several times
how I create my smoke and water effects. So here's a quick tutorial discussing
the concepts, and a max file you can download that has all three examples.
Jim Hawkins' 3DS MAXScript Recipes
Various assorted MaxScript source codes.
Learning how to use MAXScript
Since there were no MAXScript tutorials included in the manual, I decided
to write a very basic tutorial to get all you non programmers out there
started.
Link Object to a Vertex
This tutorial goes through the process of creating a simple script that
does two things. First it teaches you how to use MAXScript and do some
basic stuff. It also allows you to create a useful script than can be
used to link objects to a vertex.
MAXScript Tutorial
Viewlet tutorial (in French)
MaxScript Tutorials
Tutorials related to the Particle Flow Extension for 3ds max 5.1 and
MAXScript.
The Claw (Expressions)
This tutorial will go through an expression for the opening/closing
of a claw around a ball.
