Using 5 Point Patches or Making a Round Peg Fit into a Square Hole
On the Animaster mailing list, I see a lot of people asking "When
do I use 5-point patches?" And the answers to these questions range
from, "try not to use them" or "only as a last resort",
etc. This tutorial will hopefully enlighten those that wonder where and
when to use 5-point patches. This tutorial will not cover more advanced
topics that will help 5-point patches to render and animate without artifacts
and creasing.
Using the beveled cube
The 50cm beveled cube with 5cm is manipulated in order to construct
a desktop which measures 75cm depth by 300 cm width by 2.5cm height with
2mm bevels.
Walking a Centipede Along a Path
In this tutorial, I'm going to cover a whole slew of things. I'll detail
them below, but the basic gist is that I'm going to show how from
simple building blocks in Modeling, Actions, Materials and Choreography,
we can start with a very simple set of things and build towards
a fairly complex animation.
