A simple particle explosion.
I've noticed reading the newsgroups & such that a lot of people
are interested in blowing things up! Although Lightwave doesnt have a
"bomb" button, you can make your own explosions that look a
lot more realistic. All it takes is imagination.
Blast off with Hypervoxels 2.0
NewTek introduced Hypervoxels 2.0. What a plugin! Not only can you create
highly detailed HyperVoxel "solids", you can now create those
puffy clouds you’ve always dreamed of. As an added bonus, you can
actually fly through these clouds and maintain a high level of detail.
I love the fact that the closer you get to the HyperVoxels, the more details
emerge
How to Blow-up a Planet by Zuzer the Hun
Today we are going to blow up a whole planet. Not a very nice thing
to do or experience too close, but indeed very spectacular to see. Please
note that this very first tutorial is written in a way that virtually
all Tom, Dick and Harry can understand it, in a word suits beginners quite
well, and if there will be less precisely worded tutorials in the future,
you can always turn back to this if you’re stuck. One more thing
for you to think over is that it is not intended to be the ultimate explosion
tutorial, should you have any suggestions how to improve it, I’ll
be glad to receive them. But I hope, however, that it will give you new
ideas and make you feel like experimenting with such things.
Particle Storm Tutorials
How to create:
1 Flame
2 Comet Tail
3 Welding Robot
4 Exploding Logo
5 Space Fighters
6 Snow Storm
7 Hand Magic
8 Waterfall
Shockwave
Start up modeler and choose Objects - Create - Box - Numeric. A requester
will appear asking you for the dimensions of the box. Here you can choose
how large you want your shockwave to be, and how many segments it should
be composed of...
Spaceship Thrusters
The basic shape of the plume is a cone.
Transparent Edges is on
Luminosity is way up
There's a Transparency Texture with Z falloff, so the plume fades away
to nothing behind the ship.
There's a subtle Fractal Noise
Surface Color Texture, which should be done to the individual's taste.
here's a big fat lens flare at the base of each plume
Veins with Particles
Creating an animation of flowing particles thru veins can be done in
lightwave without the use of plugins such as particle storm...
Warp Effects
How to create a Startrek-like warp effect
Warp Streaks
An easy way to do this is to use a morph. Load your stars in modeler.
Extrude all the single point polys far enough so that the end groups are
distinct...
Wormhole Effects
Create a set of spirals, basically a set of logarithmic gradients from
the outer edge to the center. If you only do one gradient, there will
be no ridges in the final vortex. Each transition accross slightly different
gradients will create one 'ARM' of the hole...
WormTunnel
The wormtunnel effect is made up from three individual objects, with
each one adding something to the overall effect. The main object is the
worm tunnel itself, which is the most important one. I suggest that you
start by creating that, and add the other two later on, once the worm
tunnel is perfected...
X-Ray Effects
Animate your character object using bones...once you have the
walking motion you want, copy the character object and used Replace
Object to load in an skeletal structure...this skeleton will now
follow the same walking motion as the "skin" of you character,
but should be inside of the skin...
